Rules Glossary

Turn a card sideways to pay a cost or use an ability. Exhausted cards ready again on your next turn.

The two states of a card. Ready cards can be used; they become exhausted after use and ready again at the start of your turn.

Put a card on the bottom of its owner’s deck. Effects like Vision let you choose whether to recycle the card you looked at.

A unit’s combat stat. In combat a unit deals damage equal to its Might; a unit is destroyed when damage on it reaches its Might.

Runes are resource cards from a separate rune deck — you gain two each turn. Energy is the one-shot payment produced by exhausting them.

The window where both players take turns playing spells and abilities. Action cards can be played during showdowns.

The shared objective. Conquering one scores 1 point, plus 1 per turn while you hold it — first to 8 wins.

Play on your turn or in showdowns.

Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.

Hide now for any Rune to react with later for 0 Energy.

I can move from battlefield to battlefield.

Gain a resource such as a rune. Abilities that add resources can’t be reacted to.

You may pay 1 Energy and a rune of the shown domain as an additional cost to have me enter ready.

I must be assigned combat damage first.

Get the effect if you’ve played another card this turn.

+Might while I’m a defender (Shield 1 means +1).

When I die, get the effect.

Opponents must pay any Rune to choose me with a spell or ability.

When you play me, look at the top card of your Main Deck. You may recycle it.

+Might while I’m an attacker (Assault 2 means +2).

Kill me at the start of your Beginning Phase, before scoring.

A unit is Mighty while it has 5+ Might.
